Healthy Garbanzo Bean Chili
By Steve McG
I love this recipe because it's so different, yet so easy to make. My wife is not a fan of beans much less cooked all day mushy beans. So when my brother-in-law mentioned he made garbanzo bean chili, I sprang into action. My wife loves humus, which is nothing more than crushed chick peas (garbanzo beans). I knew she'd love my latest creation, garbanzo bean chili!
The other thing I love about this recipes is you make it with a crock pot, so you can get it ready in the morning, let is season all day and when you get home from work, tired from a hard day, you can just drop in the beans, mix and you're ready to serve!
- 1 lbs ground turkey or ground chicken (I usually use chicken)
- 2 cans of stew ready tomatoes
- 2 cans of garbanzo beans
- 1 jar of your favorite tomato sauce
- 1 jar of salsa
- 1 packet of chili seasonings
Brown the ground turkey or chicken. Combine everything together except the garbanzo beans in the crock pot and set it on low. Stir it a few times before you leave in the morning and you are good to go!
In the evening, stir it again a few times good. Drain the garbanzo beans and mix them in to the chili. You are then ready to serve! Make sure you break out the sour cream, cheese and any other wonder chili toppings your family might like!

This looks like a copy and keeper for my recipe file. Looks like the ingredients could be kept on the shelf-- even using some chicken TVP-- for an emergency.
