Movie Review: Battle: Los Angeles
50
Battle: Los Angeles is about an alien invasion of our planet. It starts out following our group of heroes the day before all hell breaks loose. We quickly zero in on a threat coming ashore off the coast of Los Angeles. Battle lines are drawn and our Staff Sargent and his new platoon have the job of rescuing civilians trapped behind enemy lines. They only have so long to get their targets and themselves back to safety. Unfortunately, they have no idea what awaits them.
A Little About Me
Just so you know where the review is coming from, I'll tell you a little about what I like in movies. First of all, I write screenplays as a hobby (hopefully full time one day). So, a good plot goes a long way with me. If there are glaring problems, or unanswered questions, I'm not going to rate a movie very high. My wife does makeup and special effects, so if they are sloppy or inconsistent, I'll hear about it!
I like all kinds of movies, but especially science fiction, action, romantic comedies, thrillers, and comedies. That almost covers everything, so you can probably meet me at the movie theaters at least once a week. I'll see them, but I am not a fan of horror movies. I don't like mindless killing, copy-cat movies or flavor of the months.
Breaking It Down
This is definitely not a movie for kids. This is an intense movie! I am not a marine nor have every seen combat, so maybe someone with some real world experience can compare, but this movie to me, seemed like they were trying to show us what fighting in Iraq must feel like. I am sure it doesn't even begin to scratch what really happens.
There are some corney moments, but Aaron Eckhart's Staff Sargent Nance is the core of the movie. He did a great job with his character and working with those around him. Michelle Rodriguez does a great job fitting into the platoon. But really, the star of the movie is the explosions! They start early and continue through the whole movie.
Drum Roll Please ...
I give this movie a 3.5 stars out of 5. I'll definitely go see it again, in the movie theater!

I saw this last night....it is one of the first movies that I did not dislike Michelle Rodriguez's part(including Avatar)....I agree with your 3.5 review.
